' E3 JULY /?j" Waterloo Ghosts have iost two out of their last three Midwestern Ontario womert's sort- ball games but there's a reason for it, - Ghosts lost IO-O in Sarnia on Sunday while giving up eight runs in the eighth inning. They beat Oshweken 4-1 last Wednesday at Hillside Park one day after losing 3-1 to league-leading Norwich. "Defensively we're doing well," said McIlwraith. "Other than that one inning it's worked out pretty good but the girls have to be Ghosts just getting ready “I 07 Cycle 0Model #27080 oReg. Playing with just 10 players on Thursday after Craig McEwen was ejected with a red card early in the game, Athletics lost 4-1 to Kitchener City at Seagram Stadium in a Kitchener and District Soccer League first division game. A soccer pitch is just too long and wide to be,covered by less than 11 men and Waterloo C Athletics are finding that out the hard way. Then on Saturday, Athletics start- ed an Ontario Cup game with Toronto Emeralds using just 10 players. They lost Liam McFarlane and Marcel Desmeules to injuries on the way to a 7-0 loss. In second division action, Water- loo Vikings lost to Alegres by a 3-1 score Saturday evening. The early ejection of McEwen was the result of his words of protest following a penalty kick that put Kitchener City up 1-0. McEwen felt he deserved only a yellow card that would have let him stay in the game. “I didn't even swear," said Me Ewen. “I just said, 'Ret the game the way it's supposed to be reffed'." Deserved or not, McEwen's red card is the third this season for Athletics. Tom Abbott has just returned from a suspension while -Carrier C orn er.
