Of the 9,000 boys in attendance at the nine-day jamboree held July 3-12 in Guelph, close to 200 boys from the North Waterloo district toou pan. mmudmg 39 from three troops in Waterloo. North Waterloo executive direc tor Jim Butler said lst, 5th and 6th Waterloo troops all had super times at the Jamboree and showed great friendship to other scouts from around the country The 6th Canadian Scout Jam, boree is now over but it is not likely that any of the boys in attendance are going to soon forget it. "There was great participation by all the boys. Everyone enjoyed themselves very much." said Butler. Waterloo was represented at the 6th Canadian Scout Jamboree, which was held at Guelph Lake Conservation Area July 3-12, by a contingent from the 6th Waterloo Scout Troop, Our Lady of Lourdes Parish. Waterloo scouts loved Jamboree Some of the more popular events included the opening cermonies air show and the mingling with Lord Baden Powell, grandson of the founder of Scouting. The Guelph Lake site was equipped with its own lire depart- ment, hospital, dentist and bank to make sure the troops were well, looked after. Over 1,000 staff members and leaders aided in running the jamboree smoothly. The programs consisted of hands-on computer tralning. ca. noeing. a giant waterslide and pioneer activities.
