The chairman of the organizing committee is Dave Lawson, student, who says the event is tied in with International Youth Year. Financial support has come trom the Secretary of State's office (Ottawa). local business people, students on both the UW and Wilfrid Laurier University campuses, and the universities themselves. "Activities will start at l p.m., on the village green, west of the campus ring road, between University Ave and Columbia," Lawson said. Lawson promises "top flight" Canadian en- tertainment including performances by Rick Avery and Judy Greenhill, folk singers who specialize in ehildrett's music; Manteca, a nine-piece, percussion-oriented jazz group: Johnny MacLeod and the Young Pioneers; Sheer Energy, a vocal quartet much like The Nylons; Mathew Ingram, singer-songwriter, and Glenn Chatten (folk singer and UW graduate, now doing his first album). Nearby in the campus centre building, there will be a "Canada's birthday cake" competition with two categories of entrants: (1) corporate and (2) private citizen.
