PAGE al L., WATERLOO e'uRoticitieetvestuv, MAv‘a', Mrs ROW hosting swim meet The achievements of Mike West and Victor Davis have helped raise the status of the Region of Waterloo Swim Club but many other swim- mers have also helped to do so. ROW has moved tip to fifth from seventh in the top age group rankings in Canada and it's taken more than the two Olympians to do so., n u Younger swimmers such as Nancy Woodhall, Jennifer McPherson, Jennifer McElroy and Lesley Horton are also a credit to the club and a reason for the rise in the rankings. At the recent Canada Cup 11 in Montreal, the Iryear-old Woodhall had the most exceptional swim for ROW, finishing sixth in the 200 metre breaststroke in 246.1 while swimming in open age competition. Woodhall also turned in a good time helping ROW's relay team to a fourth place rmish in the 4 x 100 medley relay. swimming the breast stroke in I: 16. McPherson, McElroy and Horton were also on the relay team. English swimmers dominated the meet. having reached their peak for national champi- onships two weeks earlier. Even Olympic gold medallist Victor Davis was second to Britain's Adrian Moorehouse in the 100 and 200 breast, stroke but Davis wasn't at his peak. "Fourth place is a {'ery big accomplishment," said ROW coach Cliff Barry. "They're all very young." Despite the loss, Bluevale remained in first place with a 3-1 mark. Both schools have strong teams because many girls came up through Waterloo's minor soccer system. mm on..." photo Houuohoki rubbish.
