Seven university and college teams from across Canada are to meet Saturday at University of Waterloo from 2-6 p.m. to partici- pate in the first annual Great Canadian Solar Energy Race. Solar Energy race at UW The race, much like the Shell Fuelathon. will determine which team can design and build the most cost effective thermosyphon solar domestic hot water system. The teams will submit the cost projections of their system before the day of the race for evaluation by the judging team consisting of solar industry experts. The thermal performance will be evaluated by measuring the temperature of the water at three different draws, The design that produces the hottest water at the lowest cost will be declared the winner. With a first prize of an all expense paid trip to the lntema- tional Solar Energy Conference in Montreal. the competition should be fierce.
