For the second time in 21 years, the City of Waterloo has honored a husband-wife team at its sports volunteers recognition dinner. Clare and Susan Bowman were honored together for their work with Waterloo Girls Softball. At various times both have served as president and vice- president of the associ- ation and both have acted as coaches. Other volunteers re- cognised at the dinner last Wednesday' at Super Skate Seven were Dr. Pat Bishop, Clifford Campbell, Paul Puncher, Kevin Hergott, Murray Wei- don. Ken Sonier. Eliza, beth McKerrow, Bar- bara Rice, Sandra Meyer. Harry Gar- diner, Syed Mo- hammed and Doug Fitzgerald. Dr. Bishop has been involved in minor base- ball the past to years. He has coached T-bail and the tyke Hornets all-star team before the Tyke Pirates. Campbell has acted " coach in T-ball and banum ali-star as well as coach and convenor in the tyke division. Puncher was also in- volved in minor base- ball and managed the midget all-star team from 1975 to 1982. That team had four very successful seasons in- cluding winning the Ontario "A" ehampi- onship in 1976. Hergott has been a minor hockey convenor for 10 years and for six of those years he also coached and had one year as manager. He has also spent four years in minor base- ball. Weldon has put in 14 years as a coach in minor atom City League hockey and Sonier has 13 years of similar involvement. McKerrow coached in minor soccer and also worked at assign- ing referees. In 1975 she began serving on the minor hockey women's auxiliary and has held positions as secretary-treasurer. president and past president. Rice has been in- volved in ringette for 10 years and among the many positions she held, she was president for four years. In 1982 she was chairman of Meyer also has 10 years of involvement in ringette. In 1983 and 1984 she worked as re- gional tournament chairman, belle divi- sion convenor and "B" convenor.
