Coral Andnws Chronicle Special Last year, Bob Berky, with duck caller and red nose, brought his special blend of juggling. dance, mime and comedy, to a small but appreciative UW Humanities Theatre audience. This year Berky re- turned by popular de- mand bringing per- former Michael Mos- chen to create Fools- fire. Foolsfire is a fasci- nating stage show of mime, comedy, torch- twirling and dance. which both Berky and Moschen have per- formed around the globe. The actual torch- twirling duet was saved for a suspenseful finale, but all of Fools- fire was a delight. 'The Alechemedians' featured a dynamic be- ginning with an ensem- ble of silver mixing bowls strewn across the stage, like house- hold spinning tops. The Alchemedians was strong in its start, but tedious towards its end. Berky and Moschen then appeared in the guise of alehemists or 'alchemedians' testing the'se strange silver beings for radio-active properties. The bowls and personalities actu- ally 'talked' when touched. With choreo graphic skill the duo used the bowls as in- genious props. Foolsfire drew its spark from the second half. Berky repeated last year's stage folly in cluding his uproarious ‘learn-to-unicycle‘ caper. Once again he asked an unsuspecting audience member to participate in a 'vroom-vroom" panto- mime. Then the gleeful mime actually assisted the one-wheel driver in a short circle to enthu- siastic response. 7:7 I Berky looked similar to mime master Mar- cel Marceau's charac- ter 'Bip', clad in black and white striped at- tire. He sniggered con- stantiy through his lo veable duck-caller, as the cunning clown taught another volun- teer how to prance about in a ballerina's tutu. g/ Fii-'?iii-i'iE LADIES (l _'j,)li'liclllil; FREE 0 v "tith-t TUESDAY tu.
