An opportunity to purchase distinctive Christmas gifts has been offered to staff, students of Wilfrid Laurier University and members of the community as the WUSC Caravan rolled into Waterloo Tuesday. Sponsored by the World University Service of Canada (WUSCL the threeaiay sale, Nov. 20 to 22. offers a wide range of crafts and artwork produced in Third World Countries, everything from clothing to gift items. explained Jeff Kaake, a third-year WLU history and political science student, who is in charge of organizing the event. WLU students decided to host the Caravan bazaar for the first time this year after being approached by Barbara McLean, WUSC liaison officer for southwestern Ontario. In most cases. a percentage of the receipts is retained by the host university. Kaake said, however, that Laurier plans to waive its portion, after costs are met, and donate all proceeds to charity. If successful, Laurier is also hoping to establish a WUSC chapter on campus which will sponsor and organize future Caravans at the university.
