Marjorie Millar, director of mi versity development and alumni affairs. and Jan Basso, manager of placement and career services, were jointly honored at the organi- zatiort's recent national conference in Toronto for their "unique con- tribution to the association." The two were selected for the award, given only three times since 1979, for their role in the develop- ment of several innovative com- puter systems, designed for use in a university placement office. and for the subsequent sharing of that information with colleagues in Can- ada and the US. Work on the system began in 1979 when Millar Joined Laurier's Ofriee of Placement and Career Services. At that time, all information and records had lobe stored manually, she recalled.
