The Toronto Consort from his performance of the Rachmaninoff Third Concerto with the Kâ€"W Symphony Orchesâ€" tra. Included in this program are many of the late pieces that are a special favorite of serious pianists, including the impetuous final Rhapâ€" sody of Op. 119. The major work is the Handel Variations, among the greatest works in variaâ€" tion form. Local artists, Don MacKay and Bruce Herchenrader, will be featured at the Kitchâ€" enerâ€"Waterioo Art Gal lery, until Jan. 15. Born in Jhansi, India, MacKâ€" ay is now an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Fine Arts, Universiâ€" ty of Waterloo. MacKay‘s art disâ€" plays a concern for both line and color in his abstract designs. Although he fills his canvasses with nondeâ€" script organic forms, MacKay uses several techniques to draw these freeâ€"flowing forms into imaginaâ€" tive, unified composiâ€" tions . In contrast to MacKâ€" ay‘s elaborate designs, Bruce Herchenrader paints realistic images of Waterloo Region. His silkscreens and watercolor tempra paintings depict both rural and urban porâ€" traits of the region. For example, ‘"The Loo," a painting of the Waterâ€" loo Hotel at night, demâ€" ons trates Herâ€" chenrader‘s ability to use light and shadow .
