"(-I-eâ€"r'l;i;li)":\};ierie Smith, Marlo Amy and Tanya Sparringa couldn‘t argue the point. The threesome advance to the allâ€"Ontario gymnastic meet April 22â€"23 at the Etobicoke Olympium, the result of their efforts Thursday at the Kâ€"W Gym Centre in Waterâ€" loo. Smith and Amy finished oneâ€"two in junior floor exercise with scores of 8.6 and 8.5, respectively. Smith also scored an 8.35 on the uneven bars for a se(&nd-place finish that allows her to compete in Etobicoke at that event as well. Sparringa scored an 8.7 on vault to give her second place in the intermediate category and allow her to advance to the allâ€"Ontario. "I was really pleased with every event," said Kaarina Tulisalo, who was meet convenor as well as coâ€"coach of WCI along with Susan Elliott. "Vault and floor are two events the girls have been working on very hard and they did very well. It was an excellent day all around." A good performance was turned in by WCI‘s Lyne Riseborough, whose combined point total of 32.35 gave her first place overall in the junior standings by more tha.. four points. However, she fell short of advancing to further competition because she did not finish first or second in any individual event. Riseborough was fourth on floor at 8.3 and on the balance beam at 7.95, where she was close to teammate Michelle Kelly, who scored an even 8. Sparringa was also fourth on the beam at 8.2 while Wendy Kruuv, another intermediâ€" ate, was fourth on floor (8.3), fifth on bars (8.15) and sixth all around (24.2). As a team, WCl came in second with 100.45 points, an improvement over last year‘s fourth place finish.
