The Kiwanis Kavaâ€" liers drum and bugle corps competed in the Ontario drum Corps Association Individuals held in Newmarket reâ€" cently and took 15 gold medals, nine silvers Kapley Judge, front, and Peter Weiler, Deb Hutter, Bojan Keevill, David Henning and Duane Becker of the Asahi Judo Club were all winners in their class at the recent Adam Scott Open in Peterborough. Instructor Bob Zett! is on the right. Meanwhile Grand River Kinsmen found an unusual way of presenting a $500 cheque to the Asahi Judo Club, writing it out across the full length of a white beginner‘s belt. The petites opened the scoring late in the first half but fell behind in the late stages of the game. â€"Saturday, the Oshawa petites were in town and Waterloo lost 9â€"5 to lose a berth in the playoff finals in the CORL. The belles suffered a 52 loss to Etobico Thursday and are eliminated from the CORL finals. Waterloo tweens beat Woolwich Thursday in an exhibition game by a 7â€"2 score, the result of a good team effort. The tweens are peaking at the right time and should be in good shape for the provincial tournament. The debs lost 5â€"4 to Etobico last Wednesday to tie their playâ€"off series.
