PAGE 22 â€" WATERLOO CHRONICLE, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2, 1982 One of Carl Craig‘s streaks is about to end. In a day and age where marriages that last two years are considered veritable rocks of Gibraltar, the 59â€"yearâ€"old Craig has etched 30â€"year commitments to not one, but two facets It was 30 years ago that Craig began punching the clock at Kitchenerâ€"Waterioo collegiate, first as a teacher from the small Essex County town of Harrow, and for the past 16 years as principal of the Twin Cities‘ venerable institution of secondary school education. of his life encompassing both his work and leisure time. Any former students, friends or colleagues of Carl who wish to drop in at the Granite for a preâ€" banquet good cheer session from 6â€"7: 30 p.m. next Wednesday are invited to do so. More information may be obtained by phoning the schoolâ€"at 745â€"6851. Closely paralleling his investment in the County‘s educational system are the many years put in by Craig with the Waterloo Bowling Lanes Businessmen‘s League, a thriving circuit formed in the late 1940‘s that Craig joined the same year he became a teacher at KCI. With the exception of two years in the middle 1960‘s when he curled, Craig has been a faithful devotee of the Businessmen‘s League developed by propriâ€" etor Howard Totzke, only one of a long list of Craig‘s buddies in the area. But the numbers now add up that the boss of the joint is eligible for early pension based on age/years of service and that is exactly what he‘s planning to do at the end of the month. _ But not before he is feted next Wednesday at the Granite club by relatives, friends, former students and colleagues in what is sure to be a fitting tribute to the many, many contributions the Neilson Ave. resident has made to the area years. The league, usually consisting of 24 teams from business and industry in the area runs Thursday afternoons from fall until spring each year. o â€" â€" o _ Commitment‘s been his principle! ‘"For most of the guys, it‘s the only time they To become a legend a sports car must offer an outstanding combination of style, luxury and pertormance. They face many more problems than when I first came here in 1952, and I‘m most impressed with the way kids today handle the pressures and problems. They have to deal with a lot of pressures previous generations didn‘t and I think they are doing so very well.‘"‘ A fisherman, handyman, and selfâ€"admitted landscape and gardening hobbyist, Carl will no doubt find many projects to fill his additional leisure time after clocking out at KCIl for the final time. The immediate summer months are shaping up to be most exciting, if for no other reason than that his boyhood heroes Detroit Tigers seem intent on reâ€"living their glory years. _ Next Wednesday, his peers will no doubt help Carl Craig do the same. His track record of commitment and dedication demands it. bowl, two games each Thursday afternoon," said Craig earlier this week at the Princess St. facility. ‘"What 1 find most enjoyable is coming out and meeting all the guys, a lot of us have bowled together for years and years, a lot are former students of KCI. s ‘‘The part we enjoy most is the banquet each April," he added with a chuckle. To say that teaching and counselling pupils during his tenure at KCI has changed over the years is an understatement of infinite proporâ€" tions. Craig displayed no hesitation in lauding the students of today.
