They may not be enjoying the statistical success of recent years so far in 1981â€"82, but Waterloo Chippers will no doubt once again put on a firstâ€"class event when they play host to their eighth annual Chipper Carlingâ€"O‘Keefe Oldtimer Hockey tournament this weekend. Ail three division winners are back from last year with Chippers defending champs in the Ott Heller section, Kâ€"W Moderates out to win again the Dutch Reibel Division and Dukes of Thornhil} looking to repeat in the Boat Hurley division. The 12â€"teamm, three division tourney begins at 7 p.m. Friday on two fronts (Waterioo and McCormick Arenas) and continues Saturday with finals going Sunday at Waterloo Arena. Chippers are aligned with Saints, University of Waterloo Worriers, and Milton. They will open against Worriers Friday at 7 p.m. at Waterloo Arena. Included among the new teams this year #Wre Kitchener Saints, Milton Oldstars, Ancaster Maroons, Kâ€"W Falling Stars and Wellesiey. Due to key player losses and aging bodies, Chippers statistical success has been limited this year as their excellent 1980â€"81 campaign resuited in their being seeded in tough competiâ€" tion in each event. Chippers were winless in Sarnia and Toronto World Cup, reached the semiâ€"finals in Kitchener and in early Marceh lost the final of the St. Clements event. *‘*We lost a couple of good players, and all our players are a year older when that year makes a lot of difference," said Chipper mainstay Howie Dietrich at a recent press conference announcâ€" ing the event.
