The plumbers will be pushing and pulling a Kitchener transit bus over a 6.5 km route from the UW campus on University Avenue, down King Street, to Market Square in Kitâ€" chener. As Canada moves into the highly competâ€" itive 80‘s, the need for technological innovaâ€" tion to enhance the country‘s industrial poâ€" sition has never been greater. In recognition of this, the Canadian Industriâ€" al Innovation Cenâ€" tre/Waterioo in associâ€" ation with the Univerâ€" sity of Waterloo is holding a Seminar and Conference on Indusâ€" trial Innovation in May at the University. The girls are carefully matched with women who volunâ€" teer to be Big Sisters. Through their friendâ€" ship both the Big and Little Sisters develop their physical and creâ€" ative potential. The Kâ€"W and Area Big Sisters have grown to be the largest in Ontario, serving 216 within the organiza tions. The May 2 to May 15 seminar will offer the 40 to 50 attendees a practical combination of instruction and projâ€" ect work under three general themes: Being an innovator, Organizâ€" ing for innovation, and Doing innovation. It has been designed for the new innovator in Canadian industry who will be expected to contribute significantly to his organization in the vears ahead. On May 13â€"15 there will be an Industrial Innovation conference which will assemble senior experienced inâ€" novators to address the topic organizing for Inâ€" novation in 1982 Peoâ€" ple, Ideas and Money. This conference will be addressed by exâ€" perts in the area of innovation and will inâ€" voive the attendees in a Last year, UW engiâ€" neers through the bus push, raised more money for Kâ€"W Big Sisters than any other outside organization in the region. Little Sisters and Bud dies. Their funding de pends solely on public support, and this year the plumbers hope to raise $5,000 to contrib ute towards their operating expenses. The parade will begin near the Univer sity Avenue entrance to the UW campus at 10: 15 a.m. After a brief stop at MceDonalds for free refreshments the group will arrive at series of workshops to examine and discuss recent innovations in computers, transportaâ€" tion and plastics. As well, experienced industrial innovators will be making presenâ€" tations to the conferâ€" ence and participating in the workshops. The growth indusâ€" tries in Canada in the next decade will be those which can inâ€" novate and compete worldwide, experts say. Preparation for innovation is the cenâ€" tral objective of this unique seminar and conference. Special guest speakâ€" ers will address the conference on themes of provincial, national and international interâ€" est. The faculty for the seminar have a broad range of experience in the industrial innovaâ€" tion field. Market Square around noon.
