The group has performed in Europe, North, and South America and recorded on the CBC and Crystal Records labels. By Chronicle stat! writer Chamber music lovers will have a chance to hear a concert by the Camerata Trio on Thurs- day, Jan. 7 at the K-W Chamber Music Society, 57 Young St. W., Waterloo. Campbell is often regarded by connoisserus as one of the best masters of the clarinet in the world today. Born in Alberta, this clarinetist won both the CBC's Talent Festival and Les Jeum esses Musicales' International Competition in Belgrade in 1971. In addition to its own critically acclaimed recitals and concerts, Camerata has shared the stage with illustrous artists from a variety of disciglines. The ensemble? is comprised of James Campbell, clarinet, Va- lerie Tyron, piano, and Coenraad Bloemendal, cello. Thursday's concert, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature a cello sonata and rhapsody for clarinet and piano by Debussy; clarinet trio, Op. 11 by Beetho- ven; three pieces for clarinet by Stravinsky; and clarinet trio, Op. 114 by Brahms. Dutch-born Bloemendal has become a well-known figure on the Canadian music scene. Prior to Joining Camerata. he was the principal cellist of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in Halifax. Bloemendal is frequently heard on CBC radio and televi- sion and is currently head of the string department c,' York Uni- versity, Toronto. at age 12, is well known for her sensitive interpretation of the works of the romantics.
