Tied in with that is the process of aging â€" something which has become a scientific study known as gerontology One of North Ameriâ€" ca‘s leading experts on gerontology is Dr. Roâ€" bert Morgan, chairman of psychology at Wilfrid Laurier University. In a recent interview, he said ‘those of us with only one life usually reâ€" main interested in living it fully. We prefer not to shorten it, even though most do, and we prefer to remain youthful and effective throughout our existence." How does one do that? Morgan says there are a variety of causes that accelerate aging beyond an average norm. **Not everything we do affects our _ aging process â€" just the things we enjoy most,"" he said. ‘‘Heavy drinking, smokâ€" ing, improper dieting, lack of exercise and stress are ‘just a few of the causes related to Aging is a fact of life but different styles of living lead to longer lives. ‘‘There are ways we can prolong our lives but it isn‘t easy,"‘ Morgan said. ‘*We are profoundâ€" ly affected by our enâ€" vironment."
