The entire game was a constant duel between the Falcon goalie, Ron Fowler, and Spitfire goalie, Will The tournament was comprised of the 10 teams that make up the Kâ€"W Civitan Young Mens Hockey League. The players range in age from 17â€"20 years. The week long tournament was scheduled to take place at the midâ€"point of the five month regular season. Smith. Both men held off the superb shooting of the opposing teams. At the end of regulaâ€" tion time the teams had battled to a 1â€"1 tie, thus the stage was set for an exciting overtime. With less than two minutes remaining in overtime, Attila Korga, of the Spitfires picked up the puck in his own end. The burly defenceman raced down the ice and from just inside the Falâ€" con blueline, let go a blast that beat the Falâ€" con goalie. The Spitfires defeated the Falcons 2â€"1 much to the delight of the cheering Spitfire fans. The trophies were preâ€" sented to the winners by Peter Matthews, the Ciâ€" vitan sports coâ€"ordinaâ€" tor. The runnersâ€"up reâ€" ceived silver medallions for their fine efforts.
