The students interviewed Cosby at the Centre in the Square last Wednesday. Students interview Cosby By Erich Rautenbach Celebrated comedian and media dodger Bill Cosby finally broke down and granted a rare interview between his two shows at the Centre in the Square last Wedâ€" nesday. Having already reâ€" fused to speak with the local media, Cosby HWY. 8, 2 MILES NORTH OF 401 f 893â€"3230 ~Eat‘n Putt Fully Licensed Under L.L.A. Conveniently located at broke his code of silence when he discovered that his hopeful interviewers were two local grade school students. Alana Duggan and Cindy Boettger, who are in grades five and six reâ€" spectively at Elizabeth Ziegler school in Wa:â€" terloo, came on like real professionals â€" a preâ€" pared list of questions and tape recorder in The cigarâ€"toting masâ€" ter of mirth and friend to kids of all ages quickâ€" ly dispelled any nervousâ€" ness with his usual mixâ€" ture of intimacy and inâ€" formality, giving the girls some classic Cosby quotes. *‘*When I was seven, 1 made my Dad forget why he was going to hit me by making him laugh,"‘ Cosby said when asked what first made him decide to be in coâ€" medy. He told the girls he has been performing for 20 years, spends six months a year on the road, and only performs in countries where Engâ€" lish is understood. Retaining his credibiâ€" lity with the younger generation (he stated emphatically that he prefers an audience with both a mixture of adults and young children), Cosby said that when he was a youngster his amâ€" bition was to be older, and that if he had the chance to do it all over with changes, he would have smaller feet. They were very modest about accomâ€" plishing what local jourâ€" nalists couldn‘t, with Cindy summing up the experience in three words. The coup was enâ€" gineered by teacher Doug Ross, who is workâ€" ing with the class to give them interviewing exâ€" perience in preparation for some planned interâ€" views to celebrate the schools fiftieth anniverâ€" sary. The two girls had been chosen over other students because they had developed the best questions. ‘"He‘s funny and very easy to talk to,"" said Alana. ‘"Everytime we asked a question he always answered it with a joke." ‘*Nervous and lucky."
