Dr. John Lit. chairman of the macs department at Wilfrid Laurier University, has been named principal author for an ill-depth M of the possibilities for Can- dian munch in the field of He and his associates have been asked to define the directions in which re search should progress over the next five years and to outline how Canadian scientists should wort in re- lation to world-wide deve- lopments in that area. Dr. Lit is one at Canada‘s best-known researchers in this specialized field, the - he was chosen bythe Canadian Association of Physicists to mdenake the project. "The end result of our study will be a background document for use by govem- ments. universities and other research agencies to assist in decisions affecting development of the field of optics." Dr. Lit said. The project is one of five in various fields to be car- ried out by the Canadian As- sociation of Physicists in conjunction with the Royal Society of Canada for the National Sciences and En- gineering Research Council. Dr. Lit is the only Kit- chener-Waterloo academic working on any of the five projects.
