By Rick Campbell Chronicle Sports Editor It is dog day time of sumâ€" mer, when ball teams are hit with mental and physical fatigue, and even the usually energetic Team Sport Junâ€" iors seem to have caught a \bit of the bug. That‘s why Juniors have been put out to pasture this Waterloo Inukshuks ended a long losing streak with a 7â€" 0 victory over St. Catharines in the atom division of the Kitchener Select tourâ€" nament at Fischer Park Saâ€" turday. While Waterloo CHYM‘rs and Cambridge Gores are busy preparing for tomorâ€" row night‘s battle to decide the final three Interâ€"City Fastball League placings, Juniors have been given a week off to get a break away from their hectic summer schedule. Strolling along near the bottom of the IFL heap most of the season, Juniors staged a furious final three weeks that saw them win eight in a row to climb into much more favorable conâ€" tention. Unfortunately. Friday in Waterdown, when Juniors had a golden opportunity to clinch higher than sixth place in the standings and thus avoid meeting Kitchener Evergreens in the firstâ€"round, they gave up a ninth inning homer and lost 4â€"3. That places them in playoff position jeopardy The team‘s top scorer Cyrus Taghizadeh led the winners with three goals. Doug Socha and Brad Hael ze each booted in two. Unâ€" fortunately the win wasn‘t enough to allow the team to advance. Earlier Inukshuks lost 3â€"1 to â€" Kitchener â€" Eastern Raiders, and a 3â€"2 heartâ€" breaker to Niagara Falls. Matthew Zilinskas scored singles in both games. Jeff Charlton booted the second goal against Niagara. â€" The sixâ€"tearm tournament was won by Kitchener Kubs who defeated Raiders in a 2â€" 1 final.
