Lynn and Laura Russâ€" wurm were known as the Pine River Sweethearts durâ€" ing the 50‘s and sang over Hamilton ‘and Wingham radio; they also played with the CKNX Barn Dance in Wingham. ‘ The two met through their common interest in music. Laura éntered a talent show at CKNX and someone reâ€" commended her as a guiâ€" tarist to Lynn. She not only played with the band, Pine River Troubadours, but the two fell in love and married. The Russwurm family of RR 1, Elmira is a musical family and its history in the business started 25 years ago with the parents. They went into a semiâ€"reâ€" tirement when the family started to arrive â€" seven children in all. Laura stayed home and Lynn played off and on for about 10 years. Eventually son Lance joined his parents in another band, called The Hummingâ€" birds. Laura played with her husband and son until one year ago when she decided to stay home more often with the other children. Three are still in public The Hummingbirds began 11 years ago and Lance joined in eight years ago. They perform country and western music, which Mr. Russwurm â€" believes is ‘‘*more popular than it has ever been." The younger family ENTERTAINMENT The Eastgate office buildâ€" ing at the corner of Erb St. and Bridgeport Rd. has been sold to District Trust Co. of London, Ontario. The 20,000 squareâ€"feet, threeâ€"storey building, will serve as a regional office for the trust company and its property management, real estate and accounting diviâ€" sions locally. An album which they produced four years ago on Mr. Russwurm‘s own label, ‘‘Flora Records", features original songs. The album is called Play it Long and Lonâ€" esome. * They have also recorded two singles. l The band did most.of the recording at The Mercey Bros. Studio and at the RCA studio in Toronto. Mr. Russwurm found proâ€" moting the album himself was difficult and it is sold mainly where the band is playing. A few copies are also at the Elmira Music Centre, he says. District Trust Co. has commercial real estate holdings in the Waterloo reâ€" gion area. The trust company will occupy one floor of the building and District Deveâ€" lopment Corporation, a whollyâ€"owned subsidiary, will also be located in the building, to be renamed the District Trust Building. The moveis expected to take place in about two months. The Hummingbirds are busy most weekends, "three out of four,"" and a few week nights. Mr. Russwurm‘s songs have hit the big times as well â€" four of his songs, inâ€" cluding Cast a Lonesome Shadow and Time Woundsall Heals were sung by Hank Thompson and Carl Smith sang Mr. Russwtirm‘s No More Loose Talking." Mr. Russwurm is selfâ€" taught in music and in art. Son Lance gets an artistic flair from his father and now has an art shop at the Old Mill in St. Jacobs. Lance designed the band‘s album cover. ‘‘*All of my children are artistic.‘‘ says the proud father. During the day, Mr. Russâ€" wurm works at BF Gooâ€" drich, Kitchener. He has been there for 30 years and says he is looking forward to retirement in six years.
