CHYM‘rs heard from at Senior Eliminations It appears that the Onâ€" tario Senior Elimination tournament in London last weekend served a useful purpose .for Waterloo CHYM‘rs as they attempt to get their game back in form in the closing stages of the Interâ€"City Fastball â€" League season. CHYM‘rs, . although they weren‘t around at the finish of the event, did post a creâ€" ditable 2â€"2 record, which isn‘t too shabby in that elite competition. Waterloo started off in tough against defending champion St. Catharines Niagara Motors and were dealt a rude 9â€"0 defeat. But they rebounded for victories over Windsor (2â€"0) and Dorâ€" chester (4â€"1) before being eliminated by Newmarket Rays 7â€"0 late Sunday. Juniors eye fourth spot ‘*You‘re never satisfied when you don‘t win, but to be able to stay in for four games is something in itself Thanks to a doubleheader sweep over Stratford. With 20â€"3 and 5â€"4 wins over Stratford, Juniors raised their sixth place record to 12â€"16, they have now won six in a row,. and trail the 12â€"15 CHYM‘rs and Gores by only one half game. + CHYM‘rs lone Interâ€"City Fastball League contest last week resulted in a 4â€"1 loss to Waterdown Thursday. but Waterloo has lodged a proâ€" test about an umpire ruling claiming CHYM‘rs threw the ball aroung the infield illegally., which allowed a e Walking Aids EVERYTHING FOR HOME CARE AND PATIENT AID e Hospital beds e Patient lifts Sales and Rentals 407 GAGE AVENUE, KITCHENER 745â€"6126 ; WILDER MEDICAL SUPPLIES LTD. in that kind of tournament," said CHYM‘r ° manager Glenn Moeser. Holliday, aiding CHYM‘rs in the tourney, was the losing pitcher while all Waterloo could manage was single hits by Steve Uberjg. Bill Shaddick, Larry Strathearn and Holliday. Motors scored three in the first and never looked back. In CHYM‘rs win over Windsor Mark Lobsinger tossed a three hitter and Ken Neeb went twoâ€"forâ€" three,, driving in CHYM‘rs first run in the opening inâ€" ning. Uberig, Shaddick and Hogie Umlandt also singled, with Umlandt‘s single scorâ€" ing George Grassi with CHYM‘rs other run in the John Dietrich was the winner against Dorchester Waterdown player to reach base and precipitated a fourâ€"run outburst. In Stratford, everyone had the bats going for Juniors in game one as they blitzed Stratford 20â€"3 over nine inâ€" nings. Neeb was twoâ€"forâ€"three again, as was Larry Strathearn, and Shaddick, Tom Thomas and Grassi all singled. Holliday was again faced with the tough assignment against Newmarket, who had pitchers Bill Lunney and Paul Wannamaker ejected after a nasty seâ€" condâ€"inning scene when Wannamaker was called for an illegal pitch. Cold Springs, near Peterâ€" borough, won the eliminaâ€" tions with a 3â€"0 win in the final over Sarnia Glis. Ed Unrau of Grimsby was the top pitcher, while Waterloo resident _ and _ former Kitchener Evergreen Barry Musselman, now toiling for Newmarket of the OFL, was the top batter; going 10â€"forâ€" 20 with a pair of triples and doubles. ninth, and won the game in the 11th when with two away Ted O‘Connor reached sadeâ€" ly on an error to the second baseman and scored when Bob Fleming sent a triple deep over the centre fielder‘s head. * Stebbings. in relief of Bill Hanes, picked up the vicâ€" tory.
