What a way to start. They‘ve had to face what are touted to be the two toughest teams in the Interâ€" City Fastball league to start their season, and although Team Sport Juniors came out of those games winless, they have no reason to feel Last Monday Juniors opened with a superb effort in a 1â€"0 losing cause to Kitchener Evergreens but didn‘t even have much chanâ€" ce to feel sorry for themselâ€" ves before being faced with defending IFL champion Guelph Ingrams Wednesday in Juniors home opener in St. Clements. Ironically Juniors had anâ€" ything but a similar run faâ€" mine as they pushed across eight runs against Guelph, but unfortunately they alâ€" lowed nine as Ingrams stole a run in the top of the ninth to escape with a 9â€"8 victory. The game appeared to be all over in the early innings when the visitors rocked Team Sport starter Dave Dautner for eight runs, inâ€" cluding four homers to take an 8â€"2 lead by the fifth inâ€" ning. But Guelph‘s Ron Robinâ€" son walked to lead off the ninth, went to second on a passed ball, and when Scott Reynolds hit a sinking fly to right with two out, Junior right fielder Bob Fleming attempted to make a diving catch but missed and Robinâ€" son came across with the goâ€"ahead and eventual winâ€" ning run. Of small consolation, Junâ€" iors pelted Clayton for 12 hits, including two each by Scott McKelvie, Rob White, Randy Harbach, Dean Oberle and Brent Snyder. Unfortunately, Stebbings was tagged with the loss deâ€" spite scattering only several hits after taking over from Dautner. But with reliever Don Stebbings exhibiting fine form on the mound, Juniors pecked away at Guelph veâ€" teran hurler Jim Clayton for a pair of runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth to tie 8â€"8. ‘‘After having to play the top teams right off the bat, and play them as well as we did, the team is still full of confidence."" said Junior PREâ€"SCHOOL TO GRADE 8 All Programs 50% French, 50% English FULL DAY SENIOR KINDERGARTEN PLANNED FOR SEPT. ®© Individual Progress Stressed ®© Nonâ€"Denominational e Grade School Hours CHILDREN BORN BEFORE MARCH 1, 1976 WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ADMISSION INTO SENIOR KINDERGARTEN IN Kâ€"W BILINGUAL â€" Visitors Welcome â€" CALL 886â€"6510 Winless Juniors still full of confidence DON STEBBINGS ...brilliant in relief manager Peter Brill. ‘‘Those eight runs we scored © Prices effective until Saturday, May 24th 1980. â€"Auto 5mwwingsâ€" o We reserve the right to * limit quantities. f While quantities last.
