, WCIA Wrapup. The 1979” school started with a bang at Waterloo Col- legiate. The first week was busy and fun-filled as ever especially for WCI's newest Vikings, our "shiners". wer. come Week was held all last week with activities taking place at lunch hour and also after school. the sponge relay, wagon race. penny pushing relay and the dating game were only some of the Last Friday was hat-day. when all the students were allowed to wear any hat of their choice all day. Most students took iutvantage of this day and showed up in everything from fireman hats to Michey-Mouse ears. To topoff Welcome Week a Grade 9 party was held in wcrs gym and as the name implies it was meant speci- fically for "niners". so they could get to know each other. Bluevale may only be through two weeks of school, but so much has hap- pened it feels like a year. Last week feecards were on sale. If you have yet to buy one, they're available in the Activities Office for $7. All through the week draws were made from a hat full of names of people who bought feecards. Big Mac winners are: Terry Hoffman. Mike Moogk. Yung Jun Hou, Laura Giilk, Gail Wethery. Brenda Yean- dle. Perry Witt. and Karen Rodgers. The amazing Mike Man- del, known all over Canada for his mind-reading act, ap- peared last Tuesday evening in WCl's auditorium. Mr. Homeforms with 100 per cent sales also went into the hat for class sets of Big Macs, The winners were IE and IF, Photo day was last Tues- ay. All students had a black ind white taken for records. the yearbook and fee cards gents to which the student .umout was excellent. The first French club meeting was also on Tues- day. Blue vale Briefs During this past year two of our Bluevale students were winners in the annual Waterloo County Program- ming Contest. They were Gary Wright who iron first place in the intermediate di- vision and Cord Dugan who placed second in the con- cepts division. - cm - WCI’s various clubs and intramisrals are afready un- derway and the accent this year is on maximum student participation. Mandel gave students a thrill by performing spec- tacular feats using his ESP powers. and tickets were only $2. The two-star cards are 84.50 this year and the three- star cards, which include a year-book are $11.50.
