Elaine†Dr. Bruce Hutchinson and a PhD student, Galal Said, recently completed a study on urban deve- lopment in the greater Toronto area - Oshawa to Hamilton. One of their conclusions was that the Toronto area would be in direstraits if "someone ever turned off the oil tap". Dr. Hutchinson feels that people in smaller cities such as Waterloo could get along "fairly well" in that same situation. Most could walk or bicycle to work if they had to, he said.
