Fined $25 for insulting lady Four cases were aired in Police Court on Friday before Magistrate Weir and were quickly disposed of. The first was the case of a resident of Baden. who. having heard of the wonders of joy to be had at the Kennedy Shows. came into the city Thursday night for the purpose of taking in a few of the attractions. When he got on the grounds he became se- perated from his friends and seeing a lady whom he thought in a similar plight with himself. he approached her and of- fered in an amorous manner to keep her company. The lady immediately resented his insulting conduct and orderedhim to be go about his business. This he failed to do and after repeating his insult three times he was rudely awakened tn his sense of proportion by the approach of a policeman who quickly protected the lady and landed the over-arduous one in the coop. The gentleman from Baden was saved the trou- ttle of looking up hotel accommodations for the night and spent a delightful period in one of the little rooms that the Chief of Police always has in readiness for such guests as the Baden gentleman. When arraigned before Magistrate Weir on Friday the out of town guest of the city rather tremblingly admitted his guilt and apologized to the lady. He was fined $20 and cost amounting in all to $25 Derek Groves, D.T. 's A. Woeller appeared and requested to have the tree removed or if not removed to pay for the construe tion of two driveways around each side of the tree. The lat- ter requests the Councillors laughed at, but the former one was referred to the Board, of Works. This body took action, early Wednesday morning and before noon the beautiful tree the pride of the Section. had vanished from existance. The action of the Board) Works is the cause of all the discontent. The Council has spent a considerable sum for the trees in the park nursery which are to be planted throughout the town and now when this tree in question has reached the height of its beauty and excellence. it is cut down.
