Dutchmen Homes were in fine form when they met the al- ways-tough competition from Ohsweken in last Wednes- day's game at Centennial Park. r Although they appeared lackluster in the first three in- nings Dutchmen Homes tightened up in the fourth and put on an exciting, well-disciplined performance holding Ohs- weken to a 2-2 tie, forcing extra innings. Dutchmen Homes really shone in the seventh and tenth in- nings. The seventh saw them give Ohsweken what-for, with super batting for four hits and the tying run, and in the tenth. they clinched the game playing well both in the field and at bat. Patty McIntosh was at her best pitching and at bat. She allowed only six hits in the entire ten innings, struck out five batters, and in four times at bat hit a triple and a double. Ohsweken threw a scare into Dutchmen Homes in the tenth with none out and one runner on base, when Helen Lickers drove a hard hit ball into left field. Pauline Pinder made a spectacular catch and a fast accurate throw to se- cond base, where Debbie Hannah tagged the runner for a crack double play. The next batter was out on a swift move from short-stop Nancy McCallum to first base, retiring the side. Bev Beaver, one of the premier pitchers in the league, was supported by excellent melding and throwing from the strong Ohsweken team, robbing the Dutchmen of more bases and runs with all-round splendid playing. Moira (Moe) Johnston in her best show of the season hit three for four - her third hit coming in the tenth scoring Mary Reinhart to win the game for Dutchmen Homes 3-2. Both teams had started the game with a 3-0 season record. The win left the Dutchmen in first place in the ten team Mid-Western Ontario Ladies Fastball league. Tonight (Wednesday) Dutchmen Homes will have to play. equally good ball when they face Tillsonburg and the senior- calibre pitching of veteran Debbie Boyce. Game time is 8:30 at Centennial Park.
