Mr. T to flnttitt The Waterloo Minor Ban- tam squad has advanced to the Hub League Tier Two finals defeating Gait 2 games to l. The series opened with Mr. Transmission copping a 6-5 victory, thanks to the heroics of Peter Dietrich who scored a hat-trick and added an assist for a 4 point night. He scored the only goal of the first period with Jamie Ducharme and Mike LeBlanc picking up assists. The second was a see-saw affair as Galt tied the score after 20 seconds of play. Dietrich sent Mr. T. ahead 3 minutes later as he teamed up with Chris Burke. Sixteen seconds later the game was even again, but Jamie Young, Scott Sanders and LeBlanc combined to send Waterloo into the lead again. A minute later Galt had the equalizer but Jamie Ducharme took a pass from Dietrich to again send his club into the lead. Mr. T. couldn't stand the pro- sperity however and Gait made it 4 all before the period ended. The third was a fine period of hockey as Mr. T. took the lead on a power- play marker by Mike LeB- lanc from Mike Hartman and Greg Heideman. With just under 5 minutes re- maining and Mr. T. short- handed, Chris Burke sent Dietrich into the centre ice area and he dipsy-doodled by three defenders before tucking in what proved to be the winner. Galt scored their final marker with Mr. T. 2 men short and only 43 seconds remaining. The second game of the series proved a disaster as Mr. T. were trounced by the visitors. The hom"e town team could not get un- tracked at all despite the fact they out-shot Gait 43-33. It was evident Waterloo sut- fered from over-confidence in the ninth meeting of the two clubs. The winners were up " before Mike Madison, aided by John Roeder, put Mr. T. on the scoreboard. On the next shift Mike L28- lane. Jamie Ducharme and Peter Dietrich combined to close the gap, but that ended the scoring for Mr. Trans- mission while Gait went on to add 5 more. Final score - 10-2, the highest goals against of the season. It was Sanders' night to shine as he went on to add two more in the third. Jamie Young was in on the first a minute and a half into the period, and with just over 5 minutes to go in the game, Scott made it 4-2 on a play with Chris Burke and Peter Dietrich. Twenty-seven se- conds later Dietrich potted the eventual game-winner unassisted. The third and final en- counter began with Roger Dietrich scoring unassisted 4 minutes into the game to give Mr. T. first blood. The period ended in a 1-1 stale- mate. The two clubs traded goals in the second as Scott Sanders notched the Wa- terloo marker from Peter Dietrich and Greg Heide- man. Gait came back to add 2 goals in the final two minu- tes as they pulled their goa- lie and Mr. T. was short-' handed.
