By Peggy Kemp" The Major Atom 'Tim Horton' Cubs played Strat- ford games two and three last week in their best of three Hub League Tier I Play-Offs. in the first game of the series Stratford de- feated the Cubs 4-3. In the second game of the series played in Stratford neither team scored in the lirst period. Then in the se- ond period Atti Laszlo scored from Jim Schuniiias for the Cubs to give them a 1-0 lead. With 3:11 left in the period David Klein scored from Dean De Silva and Mike Cle- mens to give the Cubs a 2-0 lead. Both teams went scoreless in the remaining time of play to give the Cubs the 2-0 shut-out victory and a tie in the series one game each. Marc McCallum regis- tered the shut-out for the "Tim Horton' Cubs. In the third and deciding game played in Waterloo Stratford opened the scoring in the game with a goal by Eim Culliton from Rick oersen and Steven Mc- Grain. With 4:39 left in the first period Steven McGrain scored from Scott Mergl and Brian Hawley to give Strat- ford a 2-0 lead in the game.' David Godwin scored with 3:57 left in the period from Dalton Duckett and Brad Clugston for the Cubs to make the score 2-1. With 5:39 left in the se- cond period Scott Mergl scored from Brian Hawley and Jody Gull for Stratford " give them a 3-1 lead in the game. In the third period Atti Laszlo scored from David Klein and David Godwin for the Cubs to make the score 3-2 in favour of Stratford. Neither team managed to score in the remaining min- utes of play to give Stratford 1he victory and the series two games to one game. The Chevies lost the first game to London 5-3. City Optimists' Warriors played host to Sarnia on Sun- day lor the second game in the best of three O.M.H.A. Quarter-Finals. In, the first game Sarnia won by a 6-4 In the second period the teams exchanged goals to give the Chevies a 2-1 lead in the game. Joe Scott scored from Dave Cochrane and John McLean for London to tie the game and Roy Rus- sell scored his second goal of the game unassisted to put the Chevies back in the lead. After going scoreless in the first period Mark Wells scored from Paul Blair at 3:27 of the second period for Sarnia. , John McKerrow scored hissecond goal of the game from Blake Ellis and Jamey Gage at 9:15 to once again tie the game at 2-2. At [1:26 of the second period Mark Dottori scored from Mark Wells and Brent Robinson to put Sarnia ahead 3-2 after two periods of play. With 3:48 leftin the third period Mike Hart scored un- assisted for Sarnia to make the score 4-2 for Sarnia. Then with 2:22 left in the game Mark Dottori scored unassisted for Sarnia to make the final score 5-2 for Sarnia. Roy Russell scored his third goal for a hat-trick At 6:06 John McKerrow scored from Shayne Ackerl and Rogg/ Carlaw for the Warriors to tie the game at 1-1.
