The Kinsmen Club of Kitâ€" chenerâ€"Waterloo elected a local dentist, Dr. Cam Witmer, as its new Presiâ€" dent for the 1978â€"1979 term at a general meeting held at the Kinsmen Centre for the Retarded. Dr. Witmer reâ€" sides in Waterloo and operaâ€" tes a dental practice at the Weber Dental Clinic in Kitchener. Dr. Witmer is married to Elizabeth Witmer. They have one child. Dr. and Mrs. Witmer reside at 52 Ridâ€" geview Crescent, Waterloo. Cam Witmer joined the Kâ€" W Kinsmen Club in 1972 and has previously held the ofâ€" fices of Registrar, Viceâ€" President (two years) and President. Dr. Witmer, in accepting office, emphasized the need for continued and expanded involvement of the Kinsmen Club with mentally hanâ€" dicapped persons in the Kitâ€" chenerâ€"Waterioo area. During his campaign for the presidency he expressed deep concern for the preserâ€" vation of one unified Canaâ€" da. Dr. Witmer hopes to strengthen ties between Onâ€" tario and Quebec Kinsmen by establishing interâ€"Club weekend exchanges during the coming year. This is a splendid tribute to Walt Disney, containing pictures, stories, and carâ€", Mouse was in from the very start, and later other but a Roman citizen, who persecuted Christians until on the way to Damascus he was struck by lightning and was converted while recovering in the city. Later he went on three missionary journeys which took him through the western parts of Asia Minor and into Greece, founding churches in various cities. When he returned to Rome he was taken prisoner and after two years was sent to Rome for trial, as he had appealed to Caesar, where he remained some years before his death, which may have been by beheading. Stewart Perowne‘s book ‘‘The Journeys of St. Paul"‘ tells us of Paul‘s missionary travels and contains an endpaper map of these journeys. It is a large format book and one of the most magnificent volumes to apâ€" pear in recent years, a superbly manufactured book, with well organized text and striking illustrations, a breathtaking piece of graphic art. Later he was sent to the Canadian Arctic, knightâ€" ed in 1929, and sent to Australia. Finally in 1845 he was again sent to the Arctic to find a Northwest Passage. His expedition came to grief and was not heard from for so long that search parties were sent out. It was finally learned that Franklin himself had died on June 11,1847. Meanwhile he had married twice: first in 1823 to Eleanor Anne Porden, who died in 1825, and then to Jane Griffin in 1828. Lady Franklin survived to 1875. Roderic Owen‘s book goes into detail about the Franklin family and circle and carries on with the story of the search and the after events.
