Mr. Pollock will begin his second term on May 1, 1978. Mr. Pollock has been inâ€" volved with UW since its inception. He was a memâ€" ber of a committee of townsâ€" people who organized the university and he has servâ€" ed on its board of governors continuously since then. Pollock elected to second UW term Carl A. Pollock, of Kitâ€" chener, has been elected to a second term as chancellor of the University of Waterâ€" loo. Mr. Pollock‘s election occurred at Monday‘s meetâ€" ing of the senate. The office is an academic one. A Kitchener native, Mr. Pollock is a nationally known figure in the busiâ€" ness world. He is former president and chairman of the board of Electrohome Limited, a company foundâ€" ed by his father in 1907. He has also served as president of the Canadian Manufacâ€" turers‘ _ Association, the Electronic Industries Asâ€" sociation and the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. Further, he has served with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, the Ontario Research Foundation and the National Design Counâ€" cil. Locally, he has been active in a number of civic organizations including the Kitchener Chamber of Comâ€" merce and the Kitchenerâ€" Waterloo Symphony Orâ€" chestra Association, having served as president of both. He is coâ€"founder of Central Ontario Television Limited and _ Raytheon _ Canada Limited, and has held diâ€" rectorships in The Royal Bank of Canada, The Doâ€" minion Life Assurance Comâ€" pany, Waterloo Trust (now part of Canada Trust), Burns Foods Limited and Crouseâ€"Hinds Company of Canada. As a young man, Mr. Pollock took degrees at both the University of Toâ€" ronto and at Oxford and at one time seriously contemâ€" plated an academic career. He has given much time to UW over the past 25 years and has chaired many imâ€" portant meetings and servâ€" ed on key committees.
