Over the past month, council has been arguing the merits of retaining a Park parking lot still up in the air common, cityâ€"owned piece of land, that residents of the area have used for parking. The area hasn‘t been authorized for parkâ€" ing, and the city has conâ€" sidered using the land to widen and beautify the Central St. entrance Waterloo Park. Council asked for an enâ€" gineering report on the matter, and learned Monâ€" day night that the land is leased by the Waterloo Tennis Club. To convert it to a parking lot, for 24 cars, would cost Mayor Marjorie Carroll and Ald. Charles Voelker said the city would be setâ€" ting a dangerous preceâ€" dent in providing private parking at city expense.
