By Paul Marck Unemployment has been lower in Waterloo Region than most other centres over the summer, and the outlook for the winter apâ€" pears to be brighter here than predicted for the rest of the country. Figures for the Waterloo Regionâ€"Perth County area, the smallest district for which Canada Employment and _ Immigration â€" Comâ€" mission _ (CEIC) _ office (formerly the Unemployâ€" ment Insurance office) has, showed only 9,853, or 6.2â€"perâ€" cent of the labor force collected unemployment benefits during the month of July. In July, 1976 8,816, or 5.51â€"perâ€"cent of the work force collected unemployâ€" ment insurance. The figure is low, and conâ€" sidered a ""good average compared to the national average of 8.1â€"perâ€"cent, or 859,000 Canadian jobless for the same period,. Earl Brooks, district manager at the Kitchener CEIC ofâ€" fice said. The July figures are the latest for which accurate figures are available. The national number is seasonally adjusted.
