Mrs. Schnarr also gave the quilting report. The quilters complete a quilt each wéek for 22 weeks each year. Some are custom made, while others are sold almost as fast as we are able to complete them. This constitutes 2,006 hours of work excluding the time it takes to bind and put them into a frame. Between 80 and 100 hours goes into this labour of love for about 24 ladies from our council each week. CWL members are also reâ€"writing â€" their _ council history in preparation for their _ 25th _ Anniversary, which will take place March 15, 1978. She received the annual reports from the various convenerships. The Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the Waterloo Counâ€" ty Chapter of the Canadian Fibrosis Foundation, the Church ToDay, Father Folâ€" ey‘s TV program each reâ€" ceived $25 from the CWL during the year. The Brownies and Girl Guides each received a donation from the CWL of $25 for their Christmas Mrs. Mary McCargar presided at this Annual Meeting of Our Lady of Lourdes CWL, Waterloo. Our Lady of Lourdes Caâ€" tholic Women‘s League of Wateriloo _ donated _ $2,000 in the past year to various charities. Money for these charities was raised through special events which inâ€" cluded a mother‘s day sale, parish auction and flea marâ€" ket, spring frolic dance and quilt draw and quilting. The council donated $315 to the Canadian Catholic Organization for Developâ€" ment and Peace; $100 to the Right to Life Associâ€" ation and $1,000 was given to Father F.J. Swaine, Pasâ€" tor, for Parish needs. Our Lady of Lourdes School was the recipient of $200 throughâ€" out the year. The Bolivian Missions, the CNIB, the Catholic Soâ€" cial Services, _ Birthright, and the Sisters of St. Josâ€" eph each received $50. $25 for Party. This program consists of 33 women and four men of the parish who have made a commitment to visit the sick in the hospitals on a weekly basis, and shutâ€" ins in nursing homes, or private homes at least once a month.
