EAST, WATERLOO $1,500. The funding for the scholâ€" arships comes from the Kumpf estate. Under the terms of his will Mr. Kumpf left an initial bequest to UW of $15,000. Mr. Kumpf, who died in 1960, had been keenly interâ€" ested in the thenâ€"new Uniâ€" versity of Waterloo; he was a member of its Board of Governors. Poppy campaign nets $4,000 Waterloo Legion‘s Poppy collection from the various shopping plazas proved very successful this year, bringâ€" ing in a total of $4,000. The descendant of a pio neer family in the communâ€" ity, he had been president of The Dominion Life Assurâ€" ance Company for many The Legion extends conâ€" gratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Driver and famiâ€" ly of Waterloo for their efâ€" fort in the campaign. The family collected $1,500 from the Fairview Plaza. UW‘s School of Optometry, the only English language school of optometry in Canada announced the 1975 awards recently, at the school‘s _ annual _ awards banquet. Scholarships and prizes, which total $12,000 are for students in the school‘s four year profesâ€" sional program. This proâ€" gram which leads to a docâ€" tor of optometry degree, follows a preâ€"professional preparatory first year. Dennis Ruskin, Albert Street Waterloo, received a $150 Kâ€"W UOptical Limited prize. Helen Froese, of East Avenue, Kitchener, obtained $300 from the Perâ€" cy _ Hermant _ Centennial bursaryâ€"scholarship. Inflation meet Max Saltsman, M.P., will give a talk entitled "Inflaâ€" tion: Price and Wage Conâ€" trol" at the University of Waterloo, at 2 p.m., today, Not. 19. His talk will be given in room 212, engineerâ€" ing lecture hall.
