Kellett teaches the ropes of weaving for fourth year ‘"I don‘t have a lot of time, but I do like to teach and weave. Most of my time is spent with my three chilâ€" dren and husband."" When she does have the opportunity to weave, Mrs. Kellett enjoys weaving household articles such as placemats, uphoistery, drapery and rugs. Occasionâ€" ally, she has made wallâ€" hangings. At the beginning of each weaving class, held at St. Louis School, she gives students a short introâ€" duction to the basics in weaving on the loom. Each class is limited to 10 persons â€"six beginners (Basic I) and four adâ€" vanced (Basic II) stuâ€" dents. ° As the students beâ€" gin working on their proâ€" jects, Mrs. Kellett briefly interrupts to give a few helpful pointers. ‘‘There is always a cerâ€" tain amount of waste at the end and the beginning of a warp. Another suggestion was to leave the guide on the warp in case you are suddenâ€" ly interrupted and must leave the warp and as a reâ€" sult forget your place. Beginners of the course are learning the basics of weaving. Instruction is given in warp planning and preparation including terminology on both two Projects _ are planned around the basic weaves with some exploration into the twills, finger manipâ€" ulated weaves and simple inlay. ‘‘Students in Basic I will learn the infinite number of things that can be done with samples of weaves. For example, as a woollen project, they will be doing sample weaves by blendâ€" ing coloucs that can be used for material. Finished articles are to include placemats, a scarf and a pillow. _ â€" The advanced or Basic II class is for those who have already received inâ€" struction in weaving and who are ready to explore wider possibilities of four harness pattern weaving.
