The two were part ol aU youngsters from 7 to 12 vears of age receiving 25 hours of sailing instruction at the Laurel Creek Conserâ€" vation area. The instructors, Liz Spackman and John Visser. used three sailboats during the program. two Optimist dinghys and a Sabot. Rob Mathies with two singles and Doug Hill with a double led CHYM‘rs who led 3â€"1 at one point in the game before Galt rallied for the winning two runs in the last of the fifth. The CHYM‘rs fight for a playoff berth has not been an easy one as the Guelph Ingrams handed Waterloo a 10â€"5 loss during Friday‘s action. ~ The Ingrams scored five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth. Six players had two hits each for Guelph, Earl Hayâ€" ward, Ron Robinson. Gord Abbott, Bill Carey. John Brown and Jim Hostetler. Hayward also had three runs batted in. Marty Myska led Waterâ€" loo with three hits including a double and triple. John Hussey and Fred Stroh had two hits each. Robinson was the winâ€" ning pitcher, striking out 12 and walking three. Ken Brubacher took the loss for Waterloo. Young wins swimming and diving Peter Young has won both the boy‘s diving contest and the 9 and 10 year old class in swimming during a competition held last week at the Waterioo Famâ€" ily YÂ¥MCA. About 35 voungsters comâ€" peted in the event sponsorâ€" ed by the Waterloo Comâ€" munity â€" Services Departâ€" ment. Winning the boy‘s Romana Ptak won the girl‘s 9 and 10 year old class while Rene Munk and Mary Young won their classes in the 11 to 12 year old division. In the 13 and 14 year old division Rick Filsinger won the boy‘s event while the girl‘s class was captured 8 and younger class was Mark Trodden while Joanne Hess won this division in the girt‘s class.
