The students came back to a higher populated school since we now go right from grade 9 to 13.â€" With this, a few problems developed in crowded â€" stairways, and lack of lockers resulting in doubling pp. But we got used to it, and started to make this year another sucâ€" cessful one for Bluevale. September _ started off with the new students going through the traditional Inâ€" itiation Ceremonies. The Grade 9‘s this year were assigned appropriate attire to wear for the day and came back at night for games and a dance, D.J.‘d by some of our own senior students. On the sports scene, most teams are showing well. The senior football team lost a heartbreaker, 14â€"13 against K.C.I., but rallied the next week to defeat W.C.I. in the ‘Battle of Waterloo" by a score of 44â€"20. During the game, Bluevale supporters made their appearance in a two float (with bands) parade augmented by sevâ€" year. One, dealing with Free Card Sales, seemed to with a successful sale week, of the $4.50 card. Photos were taken of all students for the yearbook and fee cards. Besides the skit which was very well acted we had all types of games such as the Dunkâ€"Itâ€"Machine, Penny Toss, Ring Toss, Dart Throw at Balloon and the Pie Throw. Members of the team were Bryan Rehâ€" kopf (74), Barry Mitgang (74), Colin Moskal (76) and against W.C.1., but were defeated by K.C.1I. and St. Mary‘s. _ The junior girls have yet to win a game in their two starts. The two soccer teams have yet to have a victory. John Mota a grade 9 stuâ€" dent won the two mile exâ€" hibition cross country run with 56 entries from eight local schools. The run was held at Homer Watson Park on Friday. | _ _ _ | _ _ For the people who felt like dancing, there was a sockâ€"hop in the gym with the good old ‘30 tunes. The entire day was full of fun and lots of excitement. The students were all very helpful in making it a smash and especially the staff at LV.S. who without their good words our initiâ€" ation day ‘74 would have never been. One class had a new job this week. Eleven rabbits were skinned. The meat was put in the freezer and pelts were tanned. The students fleshed the pelts before placing them in a solution of saltâ€"sulphuric acid and boiling water, where they are right now. More about this next week. The Car Club traded its car wheels for roller wheels. As usual this club will sponâ€" sor the Roller Skating Club, paying costs above 50 cents per person on Tuesdays at Bingeman Park. This week we had the first set of games played by the Inter â€" School Vocational League in softball. Guelph and Brantford were the visiting teams at Laurel. Brantford proved to be fine competition for the Laurel team and after several exâ€" citing â€" innings â€" Brantford took the win, Jenny Suceska, Rose Linseman and Sue McGraw each made a home run. The Guelph team won the second game over L.V.S. The Laurel team has ‘been busy each day practicing to prepare for next week‘s game in London. Good Luck. team‘!
