The bank‘s objective is to make a contribution towards aidâ€" ing the community through the creation of jobs that otherwise would not exist. The stipulation of the proâ€" gram is that the person emâ€" ployed must be a student who is intending to return to one, â€" Evenstart â€" provides these children with a great deal of personal attention at a time when it is needed most. which is in its fourth sumâ€" Mrs. Bonnie Fach, the board‘s primary consultant and the organizer of Evenâ€" start ©74, said the program‘s basic aim is to build selfâ€" confidence through a good self â€" image. Learning through play, the children‘s main â€" activities at each center _ include: _ excurâ€" sions, sand, water, clay, dollâ€"centers, painting, and toys, with emphasis put on the development of language and interaction with other childrén and adults. Since the program is limited to mornings only until July 26, staff members in each of the seven centers listed here would decide which specific days are to be designated for open house. Evenstart is held at two Waterloo schools, Cedâ€" arbrae and Harold Wagâ€" ner. Mr. Reilly has been enâ€" gaged by the Kitchener Family *Y‘ to operate the dropâ€"in program for two age groups. The 11 to 15 â€" year old age group, meet at the Y four evenings per week and take part in such activities as dances, gymâ€" nastics, swimming, billiards as well as other. A six to 10 year old age group meet afâ€" ternoons at the YMCA for activities geared to their age group. . ® These programs operated by Reilly are the onlyâ€"activiâ€" ties for these children in the downtown area during> the summer. Although there is a small fee for those children who can afford it, many of the children attending the proâ€" gram do not pay for their activities.
