As in former years the Chamber is involved in activities and programs initiated to improve both our community and region. We are again associated with the K-W Oktoberfest by being in charge of accommodation. During the first five months of 1973 more than 160 inquiries were received and answered with information on the attributes of our city. In addition to these more than 100 were received inquiring for information relevant to the 1973 Oktoberfest. These too were answered via the office using the Oktoberfest stationery and postage. A telephone seminar has been held for members by the Chamber in cooperation with Bell Canada. The brief asks the Ca- nadian Chamber to urge a review of such legislation with the view to maintaining the right of private enterprise to The Waterloo Chamber's brief to the Ontario Chamber's annual meeting was highly commended by their Education Committee and was adopted unanimously as an addition to their policy statement on education. Mr. Shaw's talk centred on Waterloo County tokens as to their condition and origin. He also had some of the tokens on display. Several dealers were in attendance at the recent meeting and spoke with members about numismatic material. A colour slide presentation was given at this meeting dealing with paper currency in Newfoundland. It was reported that 23 members and one guest was present at the May meeting at which Bill Gordon won the 8 p.m. draw of " The prize draw winners for May were David Harper who won first and third with a gold Austrian Ducat and a first edition Haxbey and Willey and Wilf Erb won second prize, a 1964 proof like set.
