The only alteration to the oven is that the metal doors used to close the large opening of the oven have been removed. The black metal cranes are visible in the picture, one holding a black pot over the fire are original features of the oven. During the time Mr. Forsyth owned the house from 1936 to 1947 he had the original barn torn down and the pine planks from it made into panelling. The panelling can still be seen in the living room and master bedroom. ~ Mrs. Askin has a lively interest in antiques and several sections of the house bring alive times from the 1800‘s, a century through most of which the house existed. An example of this is a large 200 year old grandfather clock which still accurately records time in the main downstairs hall. The interior of the house is spacious with some rooms having steps leading down into them. The upâ€" stairs is built only over the central portion of the house so it is smaller but consists of two completely finished stories. How many people in Waterloo can boast they spent the evening in front of a roaring fire in their dutch oven? The architectural style of the house is Georgian which came into Waterloo with the Mennonites and was used as soon as they were able to build structures better than log cabins.
