(@ White pelican sighted last reported in 1935 The presence of one or more white pelicans in Southern Ontario is a rare and unusual event at any time, according to the Fedâ€" eration of Ontario Naturalâ€" ists. The observation of a singâ€" le bird at Luther Marsh, near Orangeville, in late July was followed by the sighting of the same or an additional bird in Hamilton Bay a few days later. This is the first time it has been reported there since 1935. According to Barry Ranâ€" ford, writing in the most recent issue of the Ontario Naturalist, the white peâ€" lican does occur in Ontario, but only in the Lake of the Woods district, where one small colony exists 40 miles rom Kenora.
