A native of Aberdare, Wales, he was a graduate of the University College there where he majored in history and international politics. He did his postâ€"graduate work for a master‘s degree at the Institute Universitaire de Hautes Etudes Internaâ€" tional in Geneva, Switzerâ€" land. Prof. Rees served with the â€" British _ Intelligence Corps during the Second World War. In 1946 he joinâ€" ed the University of Nepal in Durban, South Africa. 3Â¥ 58, He moved to the United ceâ€" States in 1957 where he was ‘olâ€" a visiting professor at Westâ€" osâ€" ern College for Women in ief Oxford, Ohio. In 1961 he was appointed acting principal of Renison College, the Anglican Church school at the Univerâ€" sity of Waterloo, then operâ€" ating out of a house in Watâ€" erloo. The college has since been relocated on the camâ€" pus. Prof. Rees was mainly inâ€" terested in diplomatic hisâ€" tory. He had also been inâ€" volved in a study of Canada‘s Indians. Surviving are his wife, the former Eve Mott, two sons, Nicholas of Toronto and Crispin of Kitchener, one daughter, Mrs. J.H.N. (Susâ€" an) Shantz also of Kitchener, one sister in Wales and one grandson. Canada Trust reports an increase of $1.26 million in its $4.2 million net earnâ€" ings for the first six months of the year.
