But the effort all went by the wayside, when the ugly sisters reâ€" fused to let her accompany them to the ball anyhow. This aspect of the program was introduced a few years ago and has proved one of the most popular of the summer playground attracâ€" tions. At Thursday afternoon‘s perâ€" formance, the youngsters sympaâ€" thized with Cinderella‘s tattered appearance and putâ€"upon state enough to whip up on stage and give her a hand with the tidyingâ€" up. And there were no complaints. The youngsters hollered and apâ€" plauded the jazzedâ€"up version of the old fairy tale and got in on the act (as often and as many) whenâ€" ever they could. It was all a part of the comâ€" munity services board‘s summer playground by which the children can see and participate in profesâ€" sional performances of children‘s theatre for an outlay of 25 cents. .Well, so she was.
