# About 30 Waterloo teachers spent Saturday studying woods, ponds and wild flowers near Ayr in preparation for an outdoor â€" pregram planned for the city‘s Grade 6 pupils. Gordon Chambers, principal of Empire school and Paul Fretz, principal of Harold W agner school, were largely responsible for organizing this year‘s expeâ€" ditions. Dave Laitwiller. physical educa tion consultant with the board of education, is coordinating the 16 days of camp. Pupils and teachers from Conâ€" estogo and St. Jacobs schools will be joining the Waterloo continâ€" geni this year. The result seemed worthwhile and was continued last year unâ€" der auspices of the newly{formâ€" ed Waterloo County board of edu cation. Part of the expenses from this year‘s trips will again be subsiâ€" dized from the board‘s outdoor buoget with pupils paying the remainder of the fees involved. The experiment first began two years ago when Grade 6s from the city‘s public schools were taken, school by school, to Restâ€" all Camp near Ayr. Following their nature studies of the morning, teachers tried their hand at camp fire cookery before boning up on their orienâ€" tecring and canoeing skills that afternoon. The skills will be put to the fest between May 20 and June 12, when teachers will supervise pupils at dayâ€"long programs on the same site. Rev. F. J.
