’1 That's one thing off my chest. The next one is not so pleasant. E share with most Canadian citi- zens a-sickening-disgust at the attitude of most. members of parliament toward their own fin- ancial security. At present, with their $18,000 a year; six of it tax-free, and various other "perks": postage, travel, secretar- ial help, etc., they're grossing about $20,000, as MP Barry Math- er recently pointed out. This is not wealth. Far from it, these We agree that Kim will be fired on the first day of her new iob. Her function is to stock shelves in one of those cut-rate stores. And since she was three, her greatest attribute has been knocking over her'milk, drop- ping full bottles of any liquid and smashing etapssand saucers while doing the dishes. It's not lack of coordination. She can play a Beethoven sonara. Oh, well. We'il Bee. , . I But she's a criminal. She went back to the city with her kitten stuffed under her jacket. She's sick to death of ham- burger and bologna and drooled over a stthtir in her honor. She has learned, in I remark- ably brief period, that "bread," as the kids call it, is fairly im- portant when it comes to eating and keeping a roof over one's head. She has learned that jobs are mighty scame when your only experience is playing the brgan in a church one summer. She has learned that a Grade 13 certifi- cate and one term at college has as much use as a third leg. No major, or even minor theme this week. Just a few ob. servations. Perhaps the most im- portant to me is that my daughter has turned over e new. leaf. Or perhaps it's just an old stone. She is studying hard for two music exams, and actually has a Job, part-time. It's a long road that has no turning; you’ll be a long time dead; and spring is here. But what the heck, we all have troubles, If nobody's were great- er than mine, it wouldn't he a bad world. Cope with your own troubles, and don't let them drag you down. Look at the world troubles and if you, personally, can do something about them, do it. Another item which has me pretty disturbed is that The Tele- gram News Syndicate, which cir- culates this column, wants an up- to-date picture of yours truly. Maybe they could take the shot from the waist up, and show the needle-holes where I had my cortisone shots. I would certainly be better than one from the waist down. I have bow-legs, and gout in my right big toe. Anyway, you'll be seeing it. Take a good snort, or a tranquilizer, before it comes out. I'll be right there with you. _ However, I ain't ascared. The grog blossoms won't show, in black and white. I can have my eyes debagged, which is expen- sive, but works. My Roman nose is intact, and perhaps a side shot, with the jowls taped up behind my ears, might convince some people of something or other. I’ll have to hay a wig. I’ll have to have my remaining molars painted white. I'll have to pay a photographer to touch the whole thing up. And I'11 still look like a veteran of the Boer War. My wife disagrees. She says my fine bone structure will always come through. Yeah, just like a death's head.
