The services industry, which in 1966 employed 23,300 people, is expected to employ 109,300 by 2001.The growth rate will decline from 5.4 percent a year to 4.1 percent. The service and wholesale inâ€" dustries will show much less of a decrease, according to the study. Retail stores, which in 1966 employed nearly 15,000 people, will increase the number of emâ€" ployees to 43,500 by 2001.
