Be sure that all cords, plugs, sockets and bulbs used outdoors are manufactured for outdoor use. Keep all electrical connections oft the ground. and, for greater safety, weatherproof all outside connections with electrical tape. Beware'of "bargain" Christmas light sets. Look for the sets that have sockets made of plastic cx- cent tor the actual contact points deep inside. They have a plastic clip that is very useful to clip on tree branches or wire. Be sure that the strings are disconnected when stringing the wire around the house, and do not have the bulbs in the sockets. Be careful to position the sta. ples so they do not pierce the wire as you wort your way around the edges of the house. Extra strings can be added as you reach the end by plugging in the socket incorporated at the end of the preceding string. Start at the lowest point on the eves, attaching the wire to the wood with a stapling gun. Many hardware stores have them for rent by the day. use a pale green or blue-green Color filter. The safest procedure, if not the most interesting, is to use white light on colored ob- jects. Attaching strings of lights to your home is easier now than ever before.
