By ROLAND HERSEN 1. C M.H.A. Executive Director I UNDERSTAND THAT THE GALT COUNCIL AND RESE * DENTS WERE ALL IN FAVQR OF CHANGING THE LANG RESIDENCE INTO A NURSING HOME. IS IT TRUE THAT THIS HOME IS BEING FORCED To CLOSE BECAUSE A FEW LOCAL RESIDENTS DISCOVERâ€" |. ED THAT SOME OF THE GUESTS WERE ONCE IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL? There is apparently a group of local Galt citizens who are exâ€" tremely verbal in their attempts to close Park Haven Manor. Unâ€" forunately these people have been able to sway the Galt City Counâ€" cil to repeal the bylaw allowing this nursing home to operate in this locality. Both the citizens and the City Council acted on the basis of emotionality and total ignorance of the facts. The comâ€" plaints and fears presented to the City Council are completely unfounded. Mrs. Soper tells me that her son‘s leg was broken in a fight just beâ€" cause his mother works with the "nuts". A grave injustice to man‘s rights has been committed! The "guests" at Park Haven Manor have been discharged from a psychiatric Hospital as no longer requiring psychiatric treatment. By law, they have the same rights as all other Canadians. Howâ€" ever, a hand full of "good neighâ€" bors" have decided to discriminâ€" ate against their fellow man on the basis of previous medical treatment. It is interesting to note that the "guest" in this home would never think of bothering others in the way that the petitioners are bothering them. THE BOOK NOOK 38 KING S.
